How to clean the touchscreen during the covid-19 outbreak

Covid-19 outbreak alters everyone's business, daily life, and hygiene. From personal hygiene to disinfection and cleaning procedures in the public areas people are more concerned with staying clean and germ-free.

While the disease is primarily spread from person to person there is also a possibility that a person can contract the virus by touching a contaminated surface or object, then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes. More than ever, now is the important time to keep everything including hardware clean and sanitized.

It is very important to follow the correct procedures in cleaning your touchscreens or portable devices to avoid damage. We in iwhiteStone outlines some useful advice on how to clean our products and what cleaning materials and agents are safe to use. Cleaning and disinfecting are two important steps to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and to protect staff and visitors from contracting and passing infections.

Preparing to clean the device:

  1. Make sure that the device is not running and not connected to power in anyways
  2. For mobile devices, please make sure that all the input and output covers are closed, batteries inserted.
  3. Please use an industrial paper towel that is stable when it is wet and does not make lint, fluff and paper left over
  4. Apply a mist of disinfection in a fine layer using a spray bottle. We recommend using isopropyl alcohol 70% for disinfection. Avoid highly concentrated alcohol (greater than 70% concentration), non-diluted bleach, or ammonia solutions as these may cause discoloration.
  5. Wear a one-way silicon gloves and a face mask when disinfecting the devices to avoid any cross-contamination. Do not forget to always wash your hands with water and soap before and after wearing gloves.

Cleaning and disinfecting method:

  1. Spray the device from all sides and wipe the solution off with the paper towel, especially in the edges and corners
  2. Do not get liquids inside the unit or spray the product directly. Do not re-use the paper towel for the next devices to avoid cross-contamination.
  3. Let the device stand for half an hour to let the alcohol residue to evaporate, before using the device again.
  4. Discard the face mask, towels used, and gloves appropriately as healthcare waste.

To further prevent the contamination from devices, use our Scan and Go software solutions to transfer large display content to mobile including wayfinding maps. Talk to us to know more.
